Bluetooth is an open wireless technology which means it can be used by anyone and everyone without paying any amount for its usage and development. It acts as a real purpose solver for exchanging files and information over a short period of time. It is used in both fixed and mobile devices by creating a personal area network just like a local area network but an even smaller radius. It replaced the infrared data transfer technology and also eradicated the tedious and lengthy process of data transmission over wires. Various devices can be connected and in some devices more than one single device can be receive the file. It thus solves the problems of synchronisation as you can easily do so over a distance without having to tangle in a large bunch of wires. It can be used in various devices such as mobile phones, telephones, laptops, PCs, printers, GPS receivers, digital cameras and video game consoles.

Bluetooth can be used for network connectivity between two devices. Example, a mobile phone can use the Internet connectivity on the PC via a bluetooth connection to allow web/WAP access. This however is better in those circumstances where not large volume of bandwidth is necessary and pages aren't loaded with large sized graphics.

With the advancement in technology and also in connectivity, bluetooth connections are enabled on various hardware types such as keyboard, mouse and printer. This allows access to their usage without any wires being attached to the primary hardware. The bluetooth mobile phones enabled keyboard and mouse allow for usage of desktop from a distance and no wires are tangled to the main body of the computer. Print commands can also be given from a distance through a bluetooth remote.
